2024 is the year for travel 🌍

come travel with me...

A well overdue hello and happy new year!

Hello, long time no email. I’m sorry about that. Happy new year to you! 🎉

I hope the first month of 2024 has been good to you, and if not, let’s try again in February hehe.

I hope you’ll stick with me as I get back into sharing some juicy travel bits in 2024. 🌍

I have just got back to Ireland, but not for long. I’m here for a week - a week filled with work and preparing for a travel conference and ski trip in Georgia next week. 🇮🇪 🇬🇪

I’ll be in Georgia for 2 weeks, then I fly home to Ireland for a few weeks, before heading off to Sri Lanka for my group trip. 🇱🇰

I’m still debating where to go before and after Sri Lanka, but if you follow me on Instagram, I’m sure you’ll be the first to find out.

Only a few days left to book your trip to Sri Lanka

I wanted to send a quick little reminder about my group trip to Sri Lanka – happening at the end of March – because the last date to book your spot is 02/02.

There are already 11 lovely people joining me, and if you have been thinking about it, come with us!

There’s still 1 discounted spot remaining which will get you 200 euro off the trip price. Woo!

Travel insurance

Since I’m sending an email about travel, I also want to share a very useful travel tip in this email.

I used to travel with no travel insurance. BIG MISTAKE.

I then decided to be a smarter traveller and invested in travel insurance.

I’ve used both Safety Wing and Genki. And I wanted to share that I just got a pay out from a claim I lodged with Genki recently, because an insurance policy is only ‘good’ if it pays out when something happens.

I claimed back all the ambulance, hospital and treatment fees after my motorbike accident in Thailand in December. And I have previously claimed with Safety Wing too, just when covid struck and I was travelling.

The differences between Genki and Safety Wing

Genki is more of a travel medical insurance and does not cover travel mishaps, like lost bags and delayed flights. It’s 49.50 euro per month and you can cancel any time.

Safety Wing is a comprehensive travel insurance which covers both medical and travel but has a deductible of $250. It’s $45.08 per 4 weeks and you can also cancel any time.

I personally think they are both great options, but please, do not go without insurance – because you never know what will happen!

I have never been to hospital in Ireland, and I’ve visited 4 Thai hospitals so far.

As a side note, they offer great healthcare!

Trust me, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

That’s all for now, and as always, please reply to this email if you have any questions or would like me to highlight anything specific in my next newsletter.
