23 of my fave travel apps šŸŒ

Hey adventurerrrr šŸŒ

It’s week 4 of my accountability challenge with my friends (we’re all sending one newsletter a week).

The weeks are flying, but that also means it’s one week closer until I fly to Thailand.

I have really started to miss Asia over the last few weeks!

I’ve got my Destination Thailand visa, I’ve booked my accommodation until 20th of December and I’ve had my flights since April - this is probably the most prepared I’ve ever been for any bit of travelling.

Ps. I’ve been collecting Avios points through British Airways Executive Club by booking my accommodation as usual on Booking.com and Hostelworld but going through the Avios app first.

I don’t know much about points, but all I know is that at some point I’ll be able to buy a business class flight with them haha!

Would highly recommend if you’re travelling and booking lots of accommodation or even to use when shopping online, as there are SO many vendors on there.

You voted on Instagram, so here are my favourite travel apps…

I asked you guys to vote on my Instagram story on what you’d like to see on this week’s newsletter, and by a slight majority, my favourite travel apps won.

So here they are… (I’ve mostly linked the websites to give you a gist of what they’re about)

Money šŸ’°

  • Revolut and Wise - best travel banks, Revolut is my preferred bank though

  • WeShop - get 10% cash back on all purchases from retailers listed in the app (I got 100% cash back on my first purchase, so I hope this is still a thing - it does take 12 months for it to be available though šŸ˜…)

  • TravelSpend - track your expenses, whether you are travelling or not

  • ATM Fee Saver - check if an ATM charges a fee

Accommodation, flights, parking, facilities šŸ’°

  • Skyscanner - I spend HOURS on here looking for the cheapest flights and figuring out the best ways to get across the world āœˆļø

  • iOverlander - one I have just been recommended by a friend and it looks SO good - it has a bunch of useful services / places around your current location that you can view on a map

  • Park4night - find campsites / places to park my campervan when travelling in Europe

  • Booking.com and Hostelworld - for accommodation

Tech, maps, organisation šŸ’»

  • Maps.me - offline maps, download full country maps and use without internet

  • Google Translate - the best everrrr! Especially the camera option to translate menus / signs (esp. in countries like Thailand where I can’t even read the words)

  • Notion - organise business, and your entire life tbh

  • NordVPN (get 3 months free using this link) - stream and connect to Irish sites and pretend to the internet that I’m in Ireland when I’m not (free with Revolut Premium)

  • Airalo (use EVELIN1735 for $3 off your first purchase) or ZIM - e-sim companies that I’ve used and had a great experience with

  • LensBuddy - continuously take photos, easily sort them out and download the good ones without clogging your phone lol (you’ll need a tripod if you’re travelling solo, or a good place to rest your phone

  • BA Executive Club - get those sweet sweet Avios points

Experiences šŸŒ

  • Worldpackers (use EVSADVENTURES for $10 off your plan) - find volunteering experiences all around the world and work in exchange for accommodation, food, etc (varies per experience)

  • GetYourGuide - find travel experiences all around the world (PS. if you are a content creator, you can become a GetYourGuide community member and participate in experiences in exchange for content, attend free workshops and be part of a global community of creators (T&Cs apply))

  • AllTrails - find the best hikes around the world

  • MeetUp - meet new people and join events

  • Polarsteps - plan, track and document your travels
