The first steps in starting an online business 👩‍💼
and some crazy life reflections 🌎
Hello hello! đź‘‹
Happy Wednesday, hope all is well wherever you are.
It’s week 7 of my accountability challenge with my friends (we’re all sending one newsletter a week).
I struggle to come up with things to put in these newsletters because I feel like maybe no one really cares what I have to say, but I’m going to push those negative thoughts away đź«
Younger me could have only DREAMT of this…
I returned from a week in Turkey on Monday night.
I went on a group trip with a company I met at a travel fair in London in February.
I spent the week in Turkey creating social media content for them and getting paid for it andddd I also went to Greece for a day.
I thought, younger me DREAMT of getting paid to travel.
It was kind of wild.
And then I thought more, and realised that I’ve travelled to Nepal, Sri Lanka, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey for FREE in the last year. And I’m also travelling to Pakistan on a sponsored trip in October. WTF? 🤯
Life is so crazy.
So if this tells you anything, please let it be that you can do absolutely anything.
Work hard, network and be open to opportunities.
Don’t just wait for them to come along though, go out and ask for things.
The worst someone can say is no.
I’m hosting a group trip to…

NEPAL 🇳🇵
And OMG I am SO excited.
I travelled with this company to Nepal last year, and hiked in the beautiful Himalayas.
In April 2022, I also trekked in Nepal. I went to Annapurna Base Camp - a STUNNING 8-day trek that brought me through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world.
And I’m now HOSTING a trip to this gorgeous region.
Soooo, if you are interested in joining me, let me know below ⬇️
(The group trip will be 12 days. It will include trekking to Annapurna Base Camp in the Himalayas and exploring Kathmandu.)
First steps to set up an online business…
Step 1: Mindset: identify your why.
What is your why? Write it down. This will give you clarity.
Why do you want to start an online business? Write down your goals and refer back to them.
Step 2: Define your services
Evaluate your skills and background: look at your educational and professional experience to see what skills you already possess.
Identify transferable skills: consider how your current skills might fit into roles like customer support, admin work, tech services, or creative services.
Determine what services you’d like to offer: list the services you’d like to provide, even if they require learning new skills - this step will help you narrow your focus.
Common online services include social media management, email management, website development, content creation, graphic design, calendar management, and systems setup.
Some examples: Are you currently working in a customer service role? These skills could be transferrable to an admin role - answering emails, making calls. Are you good with technology? You may be good at helping others set up systems or building websites. Are you creative? You may be great as at offering Canva services or making videos.
Step 3: Create a client avatar
Create a detailed profile of your ideal client - include their age, gender, industry, business size, and pain points.
Who would you like to work with? Who have you previously worked with? This may be beneficial going forward as you may have unique knowledge that other online service providers do not.
Once you have decided who your ideal client is, research if there is work in this industry.
Understanding your client’s needs will help you tailor your services to them specifically.
Step 4: Pinpoint your unique selling point (USP)
Define what is unique about you and the services you will provide. Your unique selling point will set you apart from the competition.
It could be your specialised industry experience, a specific set of skills, or a unique approach to solving problems.
Once you have defined your USP, think about how to integrate it into your marketing and client outreach strategies.
If you’re interested in some help setting up an online business, so you don’t have to figure everything out alone, I’d recommend investing in 1:1 or group coaching.
A coach will support you and share their experience and knowledge with you. It will save you hours of research, rather than trying to figure it all out by yourself.
