Want to be location independent?

and how a break up changed the entire course of my life...

Hello adventure lovers!

I hope the last week has been good to you.

I’m on week 2 of my accountability challenge with my friends (we’re all sending one newsletter a week) and I won’t lie, I’m writing this right before the deadline we have set for ourselves.

If we don’t meet the deadline, we have to buy the other two people a coffee each when we all get to Chiang Mai, Thailand.

I would highly recommend finding accountability buddies if you want to get shit done! For me, the group pressure is enough to make sure I stay on track.

It’s a little stressful because it’s been a busy week, BUT I’m getting it done because I thrive under pressure haha!

Chiang Mai - what’s the story?

I know I name-dropped Chiang Mai there, so let me expand on that a bit…

You may have seen on my IG that I got my Destination Thailand Visa - it’s a new 5-year visa aimed at digital nomads, freelancers, remote workers, who want to spend more time in Thailand throughout the year (Thailand is a hot spot for digital nomads - especially Chiang Mai and Koh Phangan).

There are some requirements to get it, but the main benefit is that you can stay 180 days at a time instead of the previous 30 that you get on arrival. You can apply for it here.

This has now changed to 60 days, so if you are travelling to Thailand soon, you get 60 days when you arrive before you have to go to immigration to extend or leave the country.

If you have any questions about Thailand or Thai visas, DM me on Instagram and I can try to help (I’ve spent about 1.5 years there in the last 3 years).

Now that we’re talking about Thailand, let me tell you why I’m such a fan girl 🙊

If you’re new here, you may not know, but I taught in Thailand for a year - but I never actually wanted to go there.

Let me paint the picture…

It’s 2020, Covid has just started, I’m in Cambodia, I can’t get back into Vietnam to sell my Vietnamese motorbike to another backpacker, I sell it to a French girl who lives in Cambodia with her family, I go to Bangkok and fly home. All of this with my ex-boyfriend, not that that’s important lol.

I get home, get a job in Lidl, I tranfer to another Lidl to move back to Waterford, I work there for a bit, go back to work in hospitality, and all that’s at the back of my head is… how can I get back to Asia long-term. I really fell in love with the continent after 5 months of backpacking.

I decide I could try and teach English online.

I did a TEFL course with the TEFL Institute of Ireland, got my qualification, tried teaching online, decided I’d love to go and teach abroad.

I dreamt of Mongolia, Myanmar, all the places where no one goes. Thailand was ‘too touristy and overrated’ in my head.

Buuuut, Thailand was the only country hiring teachers during Covid.

So, a break up, and a summer of working and saving later, I was jetting off to Phuket to complete my quarantine.

I started teaching in Lampang, a small city 100km from Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand.

5 months later, I started a business.

7 months later, I was earning more than my teaching job paid.

A year later, I moved to Chiang Mai for 3 months to experience the digital nomad life properly.

And that was it…

Thailand became a second home and I became a fan girl of Chiang Mai.

It IS a second home.

I’ve spent my last 2 birthdays there, and I’ll spend this one there too.

I made a random decision that led me to completely transforming my life, but honestly, I thank the break up for most of it.

So, what’s this community I’m building?

I want to help you become location independent like I am.

I want you to be able to make the decision to go to Thailand for 6 months of the year if you so wish like I did.

I want you to start your work day when you want like I do.

And I want you to be your own damn boss like I am.

So I am starting an online community to help you do JUST THAT!

It will have…

  • video material where I teach you, step-by-step, how to start an online business

  • a community to bounce ideas off, and stay accountable to

  • workshops, classes and seminars to teach you about a variety of topics

If it sounds like something you will be interested in joining, pop your email into the form below and you’ll be the first to know when it launches.

And if you don’t want to wait, you can book a 1:1 coaching call with me HERE.

I’ve been putting all my savings into Revolut - you get daily interest and a big bunch of perks. So if you have some money sitting in a low interest or no interest account, I’d recommend putting it into a Revolut savings account. And if you don’t have Revolut, you’re missing out hehe!

Become a TEFL teacher and earn money by teaching online / abroad: all courses on tefl.ie are 16% cheaper with code EV16.
